Critical error messages Critical error messages can indicate some kind of failure. Cycling the power might fix the problem. If a critical error persists, the product might require service. Table 6-2. Critical error messages Control panel message 50 Fuser Error Event log Description error message None The product has experienced an internal hardware error. 51 Laser Error None The product has experienced an internal hardware error. Recommended action Turn off the power switch, wait at least 20 minutes, and then turn on the power switch and wait for the product to initialize. Check the cabling connections to the heating element. If a surge protector is being used, remove it. Plug the printer directly into the wall socket. Use the power switch to turn the product on. Perform the heating-element check (see Heating-element check). If the error persists, replace the heating element. If, after replacing the heating element, the error persists, replace the ECU. Turn off the power by using the power switch, wait at least 30 seconds, and then turn on the power and wait for the product to initialize. Check the cabling connections to the laser scanner assembly. Try connecting the product to a different power source or surge protector. If the error persists, replace the laser scanner assembly. 174 Chapter 6 Troubleshooting ENWW
