The server airflow is divided into two fan zones: processor and power supply. In the standard configuration, five fans cool the server: fans 1, 3, 5, and 7 in the processor zone, and fan 9 in the power supply zone. For the redundant configuration, fans 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 are added to back up the primary fans. This allows the server to continue operation in non-redundant mode with one fan failure in either zone.
