I Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Precautions Electrostatic charges can damage the integrated circuits on printed circuit boards. TO prevent such damage from ckxming, &bserve the following precautions when unpacking and installing the board. q Stand on a static-free mat. q Wear a static strap to ensure that any accumulated electrostatic charge dis- charges from your body to ground. q Connect all equipment together, including the static-free mat, static straps, routing nodes, and peripheral units. . Keep uninstalled printed circuit boards in their protective antistatic bags. q Once you have removed the printed circuit boards from their protective an- tistatic bags, handle them by their edges.
