Any physical Y damage? N Clear CMOS. Fix or replace broken item. Reattach device. Close computer, plug in power, and reboot. Device boots N properly? Y Done Hard drive or CD-ROM drive Possible bad hard drive. Replace drive. NIC Possible bad NIC. Replace card. If integrated NIC, replace system board. Diskette drive Possible bad diskette drive.
