C appendix POST ERROR MESSAGES - NOT NUMBERED Some Compaq computers have a complete series of POST error messages that no code numbers assigned to them. Use the information below for those computers. An error message results if the Power-On Self-Test (POST) encounters a problem. This test runs when the system is turned on, checking assemblies within the computer and reporting any errors found. POST checks the following assemblies to ensure that the computer system is functioning properly: TKeyboard TSystem board TMemory modules TVideo memory TDiskette drives THard drive TPower supply POST also detects the type of mass storage devices installed in the computer. If POST finds an error in the system, an error condition is indicated by an audible and/or visual message.
