Chapter 4 Shooting - Getting position information using the GPS Getting position information using the GPS The GPS is built-in the camera. You can record the position information using GPS to clips as clip metadata. Information from GPS (latitude, longitude, altitude, date and time) can be viewed on the screen. For details, refer to "Mode check display" (page 161). Set [ON] in the main menu → [OTHER FUNCTIONS] → [GPS]. ff[GPS] illuminates on the LCD monitor and viewfinder screen, and GPS signal reception is indicated by bars in four levels. ffIf [HOLD] is set in the main menu → [OTHER FUNCTIONS] → [P.OFF GPS DATA], the GPS position information can be retained. @@NOTE tt If it cannot position even after waiting several minutes, it means that the GPS signals are weak and difficult to receive. tt Position in the open space with a clear view of the sky. tt Detecting altitude may take more time than detecting latitude and longitude. tt When the main menu → [SYSTEM MODE] → [REC FORMAT] is set to DVCPROHD, DVCPRO50, DVCPRO, or DV mode, GPS information is not recorded to clips. tt The followings are locations where the signals from the GPS satellite cannot be properly received. The GPS is built-in the camera. You can record the position information using GPS to clips as clip metadata.
Information from GPS (latitude, longitude, altitude, date and time) can be viewed on the screen. For details, refer to “Mode check display” (page 161).
