234 MAINTENANCE AND ADJUSTMENT So it is false economy and unsafe to use the tires until they are bald. In accordance with the Periodic Maintenance Chart, measure the depth of the tread with a depth gauge, and replace any tire that has worn down to the minimum allowable tread depth. Minimum Tread Depth Front - 1 mm (0.04 in.) • Rear Under 130 km/h 2 mm (0.08 (80 mph) in.) Over 130 km/h (80 mph) 3 mm (0.12 in.) inspect the tire for cracks • Visually and cuts, replacing the tire in case of bad damage. Swelling or high spots indicate internal damage, requiring tire replacement. Remove any imbedded stones or other foreign particles from the tread. • NOTE żHave A. Tire Depth Gauge the wheel balance inspected whenever a new tire is installed.
