MAINTENANCE AND ADJUSTMENT 123 Spark Arrester This vehicle is equipped with a spark arrester approved for off-highway use by the U.S. Forest Service. It must be properly maintained to ensure its efficiency. Clean the spark arrester in accordance with the Periodic Maintenance Chart. Spark Arrester
This vehicle is equipped with a spark arrester ap-
proved for off-highway use by the U.S. Forest Ser-
vice.
It must be properly maintained to ensure its
efficiency. Clean the spark arrester in accordance
with the Periodic Maintenance Chart.
WARNING
An incorrectly installed spark arrester can
emit sparks and cause a fire.
Be sure the
spark arrester and muffler are installed se-
curely.
Spark Arrester Cleaning and Inspection
WARNING
The muffler can become extremely hot dur-
ing
normal
operation
and
cause
severe
burns.
Since the engine must be running during this
procedure, wear heat-resistant gloves while
cleaning the spark arrester.
