A. Spark Arrester
Inspect the screen and replace it if it is damaged.
In an open area away from combustible materials,
start the engine with the transmission in neutral.
WARNING
Hot carbon particles are emitted when the
spark arrester is cleaned and can cause a
fire resulting in severe burns and damage.
Do not clean the spark arrester or run the
engine with the spark arrester disassembled
near combustible materials.
Raise and lower engine speed while tapping on
the muffler with a rubber mallet until carbon parti-
cles are purged from the muffler.
