SAVING AND EXPORTING FILES Tip: To quickly create a PDF of a portion of your artwork, use the Crop Area tool to select the area you want to save. The PDF page will be exactly the dimensions of your crop area. If you need to use your Illustrator artwork in applications outside of Creative Suite you can save it as EPS, which is accepted by virtually all page layout, wordprocessing, and graphic applications. Note that EPS files can contain both vector and bitmap graphics. Adobe PDF is the standard for the secure, reliable distribution and exchange of electronic documents around the world. PDF is highly effective in print publishing workflows. When you save as PDF, you can also choose to create a PDF/X-compliant file. PDF/X (Portable Document Format Exchange) is a subset of PDF that eliminates many of the color, font, and trapping variables that can lead to printing problems. The Save Adobe PDF dialog box allows you to save your artwork for distribution, review cycles, and high-quality printing. Adobe Device Central With Adobe Device Central CS3, you can streamline your mobile publishing workflow and save time when working on mobile content. Adobe Device Central helps preview, test, and optimize your content as you work by providing specific target device templates so you can quickly switch back and forth between your Illustrator view and device preview. Take advantage of the power of Illustrator, whether you're designing stills or motion, whether for mobile, broadcast, or the web.
