Darning Fabric that has been torn can be darned. Darning is sewn as shown below. 1 a Reinforcement stitching 3 1 Determine the desired length of the darning. a Set the button guide plate on buttonhole foot "A" to the desired length. (The distance between the markings on the presser foot scale is 5 mm (3/16 inch).) 1 Select stitch 58 or 59 . c 2 3 4 a Presser foot scale b Length of darning c 5 mm (3/16 inch) d 7 mm (1/4 inch) • A bar tack with a maximum length of about 28 mm (1-1/8 inches) can be sewn. Attach buttonhole foot "A". b • For details, refer to "Replacing the presser foot" (page 42). • For details, refer to "Selecting stitching" (page 49).
