After following instructions in your setup sheet, we recommend you read this guide to familiarize yourself with the basic operation of some of the main functions that can be performed on your machine. On-screen Manual Read this guide when printing from your computer. Please refer to the On-screen Manual for full instructions on printing a document from your computer, and printer driver setting. This manual can be installed from the Setup CD-ROM. Preparing the Machine Be sure to read your setup sheet first for setting up your machine and getting it ready for use. Unpack the machine Please confirm the included items against the illustration printed on the lid of the packing box. Important A USB cable is necessary to connect the machine with your computer. 1 Connect the telephone line and the power cord. Be sure to use the bundled telephone line cable. If you connect the telephone line, see your setup sheet. Remove the Telephone connector protective tape to connect the external device. Important Be sure to remove the tapes and protective material before you turn on the machine. Note The tape or the protective material position is subject to change. 2 Turn on the machine. Note If an unintended language is displayed on the LCD, press [Stop/Reset], then change it into your desired language. See "Selecting the Language for the LCD" on page 8. 6 Introduction

Preparing the Machine
Be sure to read your setup sheet first for setting up your machine and getting it ready for use.
Unpack the machine
Please confirm the included items against the illustration printed on the lid of the packing box.

Connect the telephone line and the power cord.
Be sure to use the bundled telephone line cable.
If you connect the telephone line, see your setup sheet.
Remove the Telephone connector protective tape to connect the external device.

Turn on the machine.
