Removal and Replacement Procedures 2-23 PCI Riser Board Assembly To remove the PCI riser board assembly: CAUTION: To avoid the risk of damage to your system or expansion boards, remove all power cords before installing or removing an expansion board. When the front panel power switch is off, auxiliary power is still connected to the PCI expansion slot and may damage the board. 1. Power down the server. See "Powering Down the Server" earlier in this chapter. 2. Remove the access panel. See "Access Panel" earlier in this chapter. 3. Disconnect any cables connecting an existing expansion board to the system board. 4. Loosen the PCI riser board thumbscrew . 5. Lift and remove the assembly from the server chassis . 2 1 Figure 2-18. If you are replacing an expansion board, see the following procedure, "Expansion Board." IMPORTANT: Do not replace the PCI riser board assembly in the chassis unless all installation and cabling procedures are complete. To replace the PCI riser board assembly, reverse steps 2 through 5, ensuring that the assembly properly seats into the retainers on the rear of the chassis.

PCI Riser Board Assembly
To remove the PCI riser board assembly:
CAUTION:
To avoid the risk of damage to your system or expansion boards, remove all power
cords before installing or removing an expansion board. When the front panel power switch is
off, auxiliary power is still connected to the PCI expansion slot and may damage the board.
1.
Power down the server. See “Powering Down the Server” earlier in this chapter.
2.
Remove the access panel. See “Access Panel” earlier in this chapter.
3.
Disconnect any cables connecting an existing expansion board to the system board.
4.
Loosen the PCI riser board thumbscrew

5.
Lift and remove the assembly from the server chassis

CAUTION:

If you are replacing an expansion board, see the following procedure, “Expansion Board.”
IMPORTANT:
