Prerequisites 1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer. 2. Remove the SIM card. 3. Remove the base cover. About this task CAUTION: Removing the battery resets the BIOS setup settings to default. It is recommended that you note the BIOS setup settings before removing the battery. The following images indicate the location of the battery and provide a visual representation of the removal procedure. Figure 35. Removing the battery Steps 1. Disconnect the battery cable from the battery cable connector (BATT1) on the system board (if not disconnected earlier). 2. Loosen the five captive screws (M2x4) that secure the battery to the palm-rest assembly. 3. Lift the battery off the palm-rest assembly. 4. Flip the battery and peel the tape that adheres the battery cable to the battery. 5. Remove the battery cable from the routing guides on the battery. 6.
