Installing the heat sink (Discrete GPU), Removing the heat sink Discrete GPU

Page 88 highlights

About this task NOTE: The heat sink may become hot during normal operation. Allow sufficient time for the heat sink to cool before you touch it. NOTE: For maximum cooling of the processor, do not touch the heat transfer areas on the heat sink. The oils in your skin can reduce the heat transfer capability of the thermal grease. The following images indicate the location of the heat sink and provide a visual representation of the removal procedure. Figure 48. Removing the heat sink (Discrete GPU) Steps 1. Loosen the seven captive screws that secure the heat sink to the system board. NOTE: Loosen the captive screws in the reverse sequential order mentioned on the heat sink [7 > 6 > 5 > 4 > 3 > 2 > 1]. NOTE: The number of screws varies depending on the configuration ordered. 2. Remove the screw (M2x4) that secures the heat sink to the system board. 3. Lift the heat sink off the system board. Installing the heat sink (Discrete GPU) CAUTION: The information in this installation section is intended for authorized service technicians only. Prerequisites If you are replacing a component, remove the existing component before performing the installation process. About this task NOTE: If either the system board or the heat sink is replaced, use the thermal grease that is provided in the kit to ensure that the thermal conductivity is achieved.
