Ensure that the following items are available: • Compatible power cables • Supported Brocade-branded transceivers • Compatible fiber-optic cables For current information about supported transceivers, see the Brocade Fibre Channel Transceiver Platform Support Matrix and Brocade Transceiver Module Resources on www.brocade.com. Danger: Use only optical transceivers that are qualified by Brocade Communications Systems, Inc. and comply with the FDA Class 1 radiation performance requirements defined in 21 CFR Subchapter I, and with IEC 60825 and EN60825. Optical products that do not comply with these standards might emit light that is hazardous to the eyes. Transceiver and cable safety consideration To avoid power leakage and equipment safety, install the transceivers and cables with care. NOTE: Use only optical transceivers that are Brocade Communications Systems, Inc., qualified and comply with the FDA Class 1 radiation performance requirements defined in 21 CFR Subchapter I, and with IEC 825-2. Optical products that do not comply with these standards might emit light that is hazardous to the eyes. Fiber optic connector clean To ensure the connectors function properly, clean and protect them from dust. To avoid problems with the connection between the SFP+ or QSFP optical transceivers and the fiber cable connectors, Dell EMC strongly recommends cleaning both connectors each time you disconnect and reconnect them. In particular, dust can accumulate in the connectors and cause problems such as reducing the optic launch power. To clean the fiber optic cable connectors, Dell EMC recommends using a fiber optic reel-type cleaner. Transceiver and cable installation 19
