A pending SFW state may be activated by powering down the server. This does not mean removing A/C power, but instead, it means removing main DC power to the main server, while the standby power to iLO remains on. This can be done in several ways: From iLO CLI command menu pc -off From iLO GUI, power management tab From HP-UX shutdown -h Note: 'shutdown -r' and 'reboot' do NOT power down the server. These commands might only result in HP-UX stopping, but the firmware will not be activated. The systems may not reboot until power is shutdown via the iLO at that point. If you must to manually cancel the pending SFW update, cancel the update via the iLO CLI command menu using the 'fw -cancel' command. Note: This should only be done under extenuating circumstances because it might leave the system with incompatible iLO and SFW images. A full platform firmware update should be immediately performed. 28
