1. Remove the lower M6 Allen screw from the piston bracket. 2. Carefully slide the rear holder bracket under the left roller and push it until the bridge rear wall. 3. Reinstall the M6 Allen screw through the holder bracket to the piston bracket. 4. 5. Insert the sensor into the sensor bracket (CA344-35870) and secure it with another nut in the inside of the bracket. This nut should be flush with the sensor head. 6. 7. With the sensor distance jig (CA043-06180), verify that the sensor and nut are flush with each other. Adjust if necessary. 8. On the small sensor (0960-4200), screw the nut almost until the end of the threading. 9. Insert the small sensor into the sensor bracket hole opposite the installed long - HP Indigo WS6600 | Splice Detection System Installation and Troubleshooting -- C - Page 13
10. Install another nut onto the small sensor in the inside of the bracket. This nut does not need to be flush with the sensor head but should be slightly beyond the sensor head. Do not tighten either of the small sensor's nuts. 11. Slide the sensor distance jig between the two sensors. 12. 13. Secure the small sensor by tightening its inner nut. 14. Tie-wrap both sensors' cables to the bracket. Make sure the cables are not bent too tightly. 12 Chapter 2 Installation procedures - HP Indigo WS6600 | Splice Detection System Installation and Troubleshooting -- C - Page 15
15. At the bridge front, remove the bottom M6 Allen screw from the leveling roller bracket. 16. Place the front holder bracket against the front wall and slide it to the left, until the leveling roller bracket. Do not connect it. 1 Notch 17. 19. Insert the pin that is on the other end of the sensor bracket into the front holder bracket notch. 1. In the electronics cabinet, next to the PLC unit, mount the connector bracket (CA344-35920) using two M4 Allen screws. 2. Connect the molex connector of cable CA361-25080 to the bracket. 7. Using an M5 Allen screw, connect CA361-25050 cable's ground cable to the front holder bracket connector Activating the splice detector Follow these steps to activate the splice detector. 1. 3. Place your finger between the sensors (to simulate threaded substrate) and verify that the LED is red. 4. Thread substrate through the sensor bracket opening. 5. Reinstall the cover at the bridge front. See Preliminary steps on page 4. 6. 7. At the press UI, go to Print Care Center > Maintenance > Upgrades > Hardware Configuration > Hardware Configuration Updates. From the Splice detector dropdown list, select Installed and click OK. 8. Activate the splice detector as follows: a. check box. c. Select either the Skip and Continue or Skip and Stop radio button according to the customer's needs. d. Click OK. NOTE: The press needs to be properly leveled and aligned. Poor leveling and alignment will lead to false detections by the splice detector.
