Chapter 3 Integrated RA Setup and Configuration Modem Dial Prefix Enter a custom prefix or tab to the second option in this field and press Enter for a list of default prefixes. The Modem Dial Prefix is the initialization string that configures the modem specifically for TAP paging. The modem initialization string specifically resets the modem for relatively slow TAP paging operations which normally operate at 300 baud. Note that a different initialization string is used to set the modem for normal telecommunications operation. TAP Frame Settings Press Enter to see a list of frame settings (or press the Down Arrow key to scroll through the settings). Modem communication parameters include data bits (7 or 8), parity (odd, even or none), and stop bits (1 or 2). The default "7e1" represents 7 data bits, even parity and 1 stop bit and is supported by most pager services. Parameters available for Remote Assistant include: • "7e1" 7 data bits, even parity, 1 stop bit • "8n1" 8 data bits, none parity, 1 stop bit • "7o1" 7 data bits, odd parity, 1 stop bit Testing Pager Settings The "Test Pager Settings" option provides a way to verify that pager notification is working. When you test page, Integrated RA sends the server identifier code and a test code, "54321," to the selected administrator. If the server ID is "1" and the pager is responding properly, the pager's display should read: 5-digit + 5-digit Server ID Event Code 0211 TEMP W Figure 3-14. Integrated RA Pager Notification For a TAP pager, the name of the server and the text "Pager Test" is also included in the test message. 33

Modem Dial Prefix
Enter a custom prefix or tab to the second option in this
field and press Enter for a list of default prefixes. The Modem Dial Prefix is the
initialization string that configures the modem specifically for TAP paging.
The
modem initialization string specifically resets the modem for relatively slow TAP
paging operations which normally operate at 300 baud.
Note that a different
initialization string is used to set the modem for normal telecommunications
operation.
TAP Frame Settings
Press Enter to see a list of frame settings (or press the
Down Arrow key to scroll through the settings).

Testing Pager Settings
The "Test Pager Settings" option provides a way to verify that pager notification is
working. When you test page, Integrated RA sends the server identifier code and a

pager is responding properly, the pager's display should read:
