Chapter 5 Setting Up the Remote Client 6. Click the Session tab. Check the "Use macro key file" option and browse the directory that you copied the HP Navigator CD files to and select Extnd.mk7. This enables redirection of simple keystrokes such as F12, Alt-F, and Page Up. 7. Click OK to return to the main program window. 8. If you wish to rename the connection item to something other than "RAClient," right-click the connection item and then click Rename. Type in the new name. 9. You can copy and paste this icon multiple times to create an icon for each server you manage. For more information on using Windows console redirection, see the "Console Redirection" section in Chapter 6. Option 2: Managing a Server Using a Dedicated Terminal You may choose to use a terminal emulator other than pcAnywhere for one of the following reasons: • You need more sophisticated scripting capability. • You don't want to use a Windows remote client. • You need Telnet capability for terminal server configuration. • You have other terminal emulation software you prefer. • You have no need of graphic console redirection. If you will be managing a server using either a direct terminal connection, or wish to use terminal emulation software other than pcAnywhere (provided with your HP NetServer), make sure: • Your terminal emulation software provides remote dial-in and communications features (for example, Kermit, Datastorm's Procomm Plus, or FutureSoft's DynaComm). • If you are using a dedicated terminal or other terminal emulation software, make sure that the remote terminal settings are correct and support the highest possible performance when server data is redirected to the client. (See Chapter 3 for more information on configuring Integrated RA for remote management.) 52
