Troubleshooting Table 4-2. Troubleshooting HP-UX Problem (HP-UX systems only) During the HP-UX boot sequence, yellow blocks are not replaced by boot status messages Blank colored or textured background Unable to start HP CDE or HP VUE warning message The HP CDE or HP VUE login window is not displayed, but you do see a console login prompt Solution Find a login prompt on either the on-board graphics device or the RS-232 port. Alternatively, follow the procedure in Chapter 3, Section 1, to select this graphics device as the boot console and boot the machine manually. This causes the login prompt to be displayed on this device. Login and check that the X Windows, HP CDE, and HP VUE configurations are correct. The system is configured for two graphics heads and this is not the primary head. Log in through the primary graphics head and check that the X Windows, HP CDE, or HP VUE configurations are correct.
