If you need this information, it will be easier to consult the log than to open up and examine the system. n HP recommends that you use an antistatic wrist strap and a conductive foam pad when working on the system. n Disconnect the system from any telecommunications links, networks, or modems, and then disconnect the system power source before performing any of the procedures described in this guide. Failure to do so before you open the system or do any procedures can result in personal injury or equipment damage. Note: Disconnect the modem/phone cable before disconnecting the power cord from the system. To gain access to the inside of the computer, remove the side panel. Removing the Side Panel You must remove the side panel to add memory, insert add-in cards, install or remove drives, or change the battery. 1 Turn off the computer and all peripherals. 2 Disconnect the modem/phone cable. 3 Disconnect the power cord and all other attached cables (such as the keyboard, mouse, and monitor).
