3-4 HP Graphics Expansion Blade Beginning in September 2008, the HP Graphics Expansion Blade (see Figure 3-4), is supported on the HP ProLiant xw460c Blade Workstation. The graphics expansion blade attaches to the top of the xw460c blade workstation, and accommodates a full length PCI Express (x8) graphics adapter. Without the expansion blade attached, NVIDIA graphics adapters are installed internally in the xw460c blade workstation. With the expansion blade attached, NVIDIA graphics adapters are installed in the expansion blade. Table 3-5 shows the two PCI Express graphics adapters that are currently supported in the graphics expansion blade. Section 3-6, "Installing and removing expansion blade graphics adapters ," describes how to install and remove graphics adapters from the expansion blade.
