11.0 General operation descriptions 11.1 Reset response ATA has the following three types of resets: Power On Reset (POR) The device executes a series of electrical circuitry diagnostics, spins up the head disk assembly, tests speed and other mechanical parametric, and sets default values. Hard Reset (Hardware Reset) The RESET signal is negated in the ATA Bus. The device resets the interface circuitry and sets the default values. Soft Reset (Software Reset) The SRST bit in the Device Control Register is set and then is reset. The device resets the interface circuitry according to the Set Features requirement. 11.1 Reset response
ATA has the following three types of resets:
The SRST bit in the Device Control Register is set and then is reset. The
device resets the interface circuitry according to the Set Features require-
ment.
Soft Reset (Software Reset)
The RESET signal is negated in the ATA Bus. The device resets the
interface circuitry and sets the default values.
Hard Reset (Hardware Reset)
The device executes a series of electrical circuitry diagnostics, spins up
the head disk assembly, tests speed and other mechanical parametric,
and sets default values.
