Monitor problems Blank screen Only the cursor appears. Wrong characters appear on the screen. Action Verify that: 1. The computer power cord is plugged into the computer and a working electrical outlet. 2. The monitor is turned on and the brightness and contrast controls are adjusted correctly. 3. The monitor signal cable is securely connected to the monitor and the monitor connector on the graphics adapter. To find the monitor connector on the graphics adapter installed in your computer, see "Connecting computer cables" on page 13. CAUTION: Before removing the cover, see "Safety information" on page ix. 4. Make sure the graphics adapter is properly installed in the AGP slot. For the location of the AGP slot, see Chapter 5, "Installing options" on page 57. You might need to reseat the adapter. 5. All added options have been properly installed and are correctly connected.
