Chapter 2. Setting up your computer This chapter provides the information necessary for setting up your computer and preparing it to run your applications. Before You Begin Read "Safety information" on page ix before setting up your computer. CAUTION: Weight exceeds 18.1 kg (40 lbs.). Use safe lifting practices when lifting your computer. Attention: The handle located on the bottom of the computer is intended for sliding the computer across the floor. Do not attempt to lift the computer by this handle. You will need the following: Computer Computer power cord Keyboard Mouse Monitor (sold separately with signal cable and power cord) If you are missing an item, contact your place of purchase. Arranging your workspace To get the most from your computer, arrange the equipment you use and your work area to suit your needs and the kind of work you do. Your comfort is of foremost importance, but light sources, air circulation, and the location of electrical outlets also can affect the way you arrange your workspace. Comfort Although no single working position is ideal for everyone, the following guidelines will help you find a position that suits you best. Choose a good chair to reduce the frequency of fatigue from sitting in the same position for a long time. The backrest and seat should adjust independently and provide good support.
