Receiving Faxes Manually d When the machine is turned off, faxes cannot be received. Therefore, be sure to leave the machine turned on. d To print a received fax, change the paper type to Plain Paper and the paper size to A4, Legal, Letter or 8 1/2 × 13 1/2. d If [FAX RX OPERATION]/[DUPLEX PRINT] in the [UTILITY] menu is set to [ENABLE], a received fax document can be printed on both sides of the paper. For details, refer to "FAX RX OPERATION Menu" on page 2-22. Manual Reception If a telephone is connected to this machine and the same line is used for phoning and faxing, the fax can be received after picking up the handset. 1 After the telephone rings, pick up the handset. d If [RX MODE] setting on the [FAX RX OPERATION] menu is set to [MANUAL RX], the machine will continue ringing whether the call is being received from a fax machine or a telephone. 2 Press the Start key. The machine starts receiving the fax. d After completing the telephone conversation, press the Start key to begin receiving the fax. d If the handset is picked up and the call is being received from a fax machine, press the Start key to begin receiving the fax. 3 Replace the handset to its cradle.
