Setting up and using the Home Screen applications 58 Configuring Eco‑Settings using the printer control panel 1 From the printer home screen, touch Eco‑Settings. 2 Touch Eco‑Mode, and then touch Off, Energy (to reduce energy use, especially when the printer is idle), Energy/Paper, or Paper (to turn off print log features). Notes: • Choosing Energy/Paper will automatically set 2‑Sided Printing and Power Saver to default levels. You will not be able to modify those settings. • When Energy or Energy/Paper is enabled, printer engine motors do not start until a job is ready to print. You may therefore notice a short delay before the first page is printed. 3 Touch Done. 4 Touch 2‑Sided Printing, and then touch 1‑Sided, 2‑Sided Long Edge, or 2‑Sided Short Edge. 5 Touch Done. 6 Touch Quiet Mode, and then touch Off or On. 7 Touch Done. Note: In Quiet Mode, printer engine motors do not start until a job is ready to print. You may notice a short delay before the first page is printed, as well as a reduction in processing speed. 8 Use the Standby Mode left and right arrows to adjust the number of minutes (1‑240) the printer will wait before darkening the home screen. 9 Use the Power Saver left and right arrows to adjust the number of minutes (1‑240) the printer will wait before powering down the print engine. Note: Standby Mode will engage automatically when the printer is in Power Saver mode. 10 Use the Screen Brightness left and right arrows to adjust the percentage of screen brightness (20‑100%). 11 Use the Toner Darkness left and right arrows to adjust the darkness of your printed documents. 12 Touch OK to save changes made to Standby Mode, Power Saver, Screen Brightness, or Toner Darkness settings. Configuring Eco‑Settings using the Embedded Web Server Home screen icons and text You can customize how Eco‑Settings appears on the printer home screen by changing the text that appears with the button, the image displayed on the button when it is not pressed, or the image that displays when the button is pressed. 1 From the Embedded Web Server, click Settings > Embedded Solutions > Eco‑Settings > Configure. 2 In the Text field, type the new button text you want to appear on the home screen. 3 In the Icon field, type a path or browse to the graphic you want to appear when the button on the home screen is not pressed. Note: Use a GIF, JPEG, or PNG image with dimensions of 120 x 75 pixels that is 11KB or smaller.
