Brightness/exposure (Cont.) Locking the exposure-AE lock By pressing the AEL button, you can lock the exposure at the setting you prefer. This is useful when you want to set an exposure that is different from what the camera would normally choose. 1 Set the Mode Dial to P, A, S, S-Prg or . ● AE Lock is not available when it is set to M. 2 Compose your shot, then press the AEL button. ● AEL appears when the exposure is being recorded. ● When MULTI METERING is set to ON in the menu, the light meter is displayed on the Monitor. Set it to 7 OFF to turn off the display. (P132) To change the locked exposure... Re-position the camera and press the AEL button again. Each time you press the AEL button, the exposure is reset to the current reading. To cancel AE lock... Press on the Arrow pad. The AEL display disappears.
