Special Features Voice mail service 2 When finished, press {SP-PHONE} or place the corded handset on the cradle. Voice mail service is available depending on your phone system. Your phone system answers calls for you when you are unavailable to answer the phone or when your line is busy. Messages are recorded by your phone system, not your telephone. Please contact customer support for details of this service. Listening to voice mail messages The unit lets you know that you have new voice mail messages in the following ways: - "New Voice Mail" is displayed on the display if message indication service is available. - The message indicator on the handset flashes slowly if message alert feature is turned on ("Message alert", page 43). - The VOICE MAIL indicator on the base unit flashes. Message alert You can select whether or not the message indicator on the handset flashes slowly when new voice mail messages are recorded. The default setting is "Off". Y Handset 1 {MENU} (center of joystick) i {#}{3}{4}{0} 2 {V}/{^}: Select the desired setting. i {SAVE} i {OFF} Note: L While the message alert is on, battery operating time is shortened. Y Handset 1 {MENU} (center of joystick) 2 {V}/{^}: "New Voice Mail" i {SELECT} 3 {V}/{^}: Select the desired line. i {SELECT} L 6 is displayed next to the line if it has new messages. L If an arrow (>) is displayed after the number, the whole phone number is not shown. Push the joystick right to see the remaining numbers. To return to the previous display, push the joystick left. 4 When finished, press {OFF}. : Base unit 1 {VOICE MAIL} i {V}/{^}: Select the desired line. i {SELECT} L 6 is displayed next to the line if it has new messages.
