ABOUT THE MULTI(6)-SEGMENT METERING FEATURE-- Multi(6)-segment metering is a method for obtaining optimal exposure of an image by dividing the image into partitions. With averaging metering methods, backlight can cause a subject to be underexposed because the backlight is also read into the overall metering. In contrast, Multi (6)-segment metering enables the camera to measure and compare light readings in segmented areas of the scene, thereby eliminating underexposure of subjects. Multi (6)-segment metering is a convenient automatic exposure feature that can also be used under high-contrast, and difficult lighting conditions.
