Network Services Network Selection (Menu 8.3) The Network Selection feature enables you to automatically or manually select the network used when roaming (outside your home area). Note: You can select a network other than your home network only if there is a valid roaming agreement between them. 1. When Network Selection is displayed, press the Select soft key. 2. Press the or key until the appropriate option is highlighted and then press the OK soft key. If you select Automatic, you are connected to the first available network when roaming. If you select Manual, the phone scans for the available networks. Go to Step 3. 3. Press the or key until the preferred network is highlighted and then press the OK soft key. You are connected to that network. Caller ID (Menu 8.4) You can prevent your phone number from being displayed on the phone of the person being called. Note: Some networks do not allow the user to change this setting. 108 Network Services The following options are available: Default: the default setting provided by the network is used. Hide Number: your number is not displayed on the other person's phone. Send Number: your number is sent each time you make a call. Band Selection (Menu 8.5) For the phone to make and receive phone calls, it must register with one of the available networks. Your phone can handle either of the following types of networks: • Combined GSM 900/1800 • GSM 1900 The country where you purchased your phone determines the default band that it uses. When you travel abroad, you must remember to change to an appropriate band. 1. When Band Selection is displayed, press the Select soft key. 2. Press the or key until the appropriate option, GSM 900/1800 or GSM 1900, is highlighted and press the OK soft key. When you select a new band, your phone displays a confirmation message and then automatically searches for all the available networks. Your phone then registers with a preferred network within the selected band. 109

Network Selection
