Performing voice-over editing Conditions for use of voice-over editing functions To use voice-over editing functions, the PDBZ-UPG03 Sony Software Upgrade Key for PDW-HR1 or PDBKMK1 option board must be installed. Voice-over editing functions supported by the PDBZ-UPG03 Software Upgrade Key or PDBKMK1 option board The following functions are supported. • Voice-over video first function • Voice-over audio first function • Audio level adjustment function • Audio split editing function • Voice move edit function • Audio/voice data output signal mixing function Compatibility of voice-over editing discs The following table shows the compatibility of voice-over editing discs used on various XDCAM devices. Audio split editing: Trim the audio In point with respect to the video In point, for effects in which the audio begins sooner or later than the video edit point. Voice move editing: Move the position of voice data with respect to a video and audio sub clip. Preparations 1 Connect the equipment that you plan to use to input the overlapping voice data (for example, a microphone) to a connector, such as the ANALOG AUDIO INPUT 1 or 2 connector. 2 If you connect a microphone to the ANALOG AUDIO INPUT 1 or 2 connector, set the following items as required. • MIC POWER (+48V) 1 or 2 switch • Maintenance menu item M37: AUDIO CONFIG • Setup menu items 834, 839, 840, and 841 To add voice-over audio to a clip 1 Do one of the following to prepare an edit target edit list. • Select Load Clip List in the Edit Menu, and load the target edit list from the list that appears. • Create a new edit list (see page 109). To use voice-over editing functions, the PDBZ-UPG03
Sony Software Upgrade Key for PDW-HR1 or PDBK-
MK1 option board must be installed.
Voice-over editing functions supported by the
PDBZ-UPG03 Software Upgrade Key or PDBK-
MK1 option board
The following functions are supported.
Voice-over video first function
Voice-over audio first function
Audio level adjustment function
Audio split editing function
Voice move edit function
Audio/voice data output signal mixing function
Compatibility of voice-over editing discs
The following table shows the compatibility of voice-over
editing discs used on various XDCAM devices.

Overview
You can add narration and other voice content by
overlapping it with the audio of previously edited sub clips
(voice-over editing).
The following operations are possible in voice-over
editing.
Voice Over Video First:
After editing a sub clip (video
and audio data), add overlapping voice-over audio.
Voice Over Audio First:
After recording the voice-over
audio (voice data), edit the sub clip.
Audio level adjustment:
Adjust the levels of audio and
voice data for the whole clip.
Audio split editing:
Trim the audio In point with respect
to the video In point, for effects in which the audio
begins sooner or later than the video edit point.
Voice move editing:
Move the position of voice data with
respect to a video and audio sub clip.
Preparations

Connect the equipment that you plan to use to input the
overlapping voice data (for example, a microphone) to
a connector, such as the ANALOG AUDIO INPUT 1
or 2 connector.

To add voice-over audio to a clip

Do one of the following to prepare an edit target edit
list.
Select Load Clip List in the Edit Menu, and load the
target edit list from the list that appears.

data and then change a file name, the
