What is Dolby Pro Logic Surround? Dolby Pro Logic Surround is a new standard from Dolby Laboratories Licensing Corporation, that was developed by improving the sound imaging capability of conventional Dolby Surround. Thanks to Dolby Laboratories Licensing Corporation's unique directionality emphasis circuitry, sound imaging has been greatly improved, as can be seen in the figure. Dolby Surround is basically a home theater audio system. Pro Logic is playback technology that uses professional decoder technology to recreate the sound field of a two-channel Dolby Surround signal as it was intended by the creators of the movie. Therefore, no special entertainment software created especially for use with Pro Logic is required; Pro Logic works with conventional Dolby Surround movie and music software.
