Selecting the sound mode The unit is equipped with a variety of sound programs and surround decoders that allow you to enjoy playback sources with your favorite sound mode (such as sound field effect or stereo playback). I want to enjoy listening to music sources or stereo playback. • Select a sound program suitable for music or stereo playback by pressing PROGRAM repeatedly (p.52). I want to enjoy multichannel playback from 2-channel sources. • Select a surround decoder in the "Option" menu (p.78). I want to enjoy unprocessed sounds in original channels. • Switch to the straight decode mode by pressing STRAIGHT (p.53). I want to enjoy pure high fidelity sounds. • Enable the direct playback mode by pressing DIRECT (p.54). This mode reduces the electrical noise from other circuitry to allow you to enjoy Hi-Fi sound quality. I want to enjoy enhanced bass sounds. • Enable Extra Bass by pressing BASS (p.54). I want to enjoy listening to compressed music. • Enable Compressed Music Enhancer by pressing ENHANCER (p.54). This mode lets you enjoy listening to compressed music from Bluetooth devices, USB devices, etc. as it gives the music additional depth and breadth (p.54). Note ▪ The sound mode can be applied separately to each input source. ▪ You can check which speakers are currently outputting sound by looking at the speaker indicators on the unit's front panel (p.11). Precaution for enjoying Dolby Atmos® ▪ Dolby Atmos contents are decoded as Dolby TrueHD or Dolby Digital Plus in the following situations. (Dolby Atmos PCM format is always decoded as Dolby Atmos.) - Any of CINEMA DSP programs is selected. - Neither surround back nor presence speakers are used. - Headphones are used (2-channel playback). ▪ When the Dolby Atmos decoder is working, virtual surround processing (such as Virtual CINEMA FRONT) (p.51) or Compressed Music Enhancer (p.54) does not work. Precaution for enjoying DTS:X™ ▪ DTS:X contents are decoded as DTS-HD format when any of CINEMA DSP programs is selected. ▪ When the DTS:X decoder is working, virtual surround processing (such as Virtual CINEMA FRONT) (p.51), Dialogue Level (p.93), Extra Bass (p.87) or Compressed Music Enhancer (p.54) does not work. ▪ When DTS:X contents are played back, you can adjust the volume of dialogue sounds in "DTS Dialogue Control" (p.93) in the "Setup" menu. 50 En
