If You're Stuck: In Sand, Mud, Ice or Snow What you don't want todo when your vehicle is stuckis as to spin your wheelstoo fast. The method known "rocking" canhelp you get out when you're stuck, but you must use caution. NOTICE: Spinning your wheels can destroy parts of your vehicle as well as thetires. If you spin thewheels too fast while shifting your transaxle back and forth, you can destroy your transaxle. For information about using tire chains your vehicle, on see "Tire Chains" in the Index. If you let your tires spin high speed, they can at explode, and you or otherscould be injured. And, the transaxle or other partsthe vehicle can of overheat. That could cause an engine compartment fire other or damage. When you're stuck, spin the wheels as little as possible. Don't spin thewheels above 35 mph (5$ k@h) as shown on the speedometer. Rocking Your Vehicle To Get It Out First, turn your steering wheel and right. That will left clear the area around your wheels. If your vehicle front turn has the Enhanced Traction System, you should the systemoff. (See "Enhanced Traction System" in the Index.) Then shift back and between forth REVERSE (R)and a forwardgear (or with a manual transaxle, betweenmRST (1) or SECOND (2) and R) as REVERSE ( ) ,spinning the wheels little as shift, possible. Release the accelerator pedal while you and press lightly the accelerator pedal when the on transaxle is ingear. If that doesn'tget you out aftera few tries,you may need to be towedout.
