P. 20 Brake A CAUTION A • Turn off the power switch and disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet before starting work, otherwise the machine may operate if the treadle is pressed by mistake, which could result in injury. However, the motor will keep turning even after the power is switched off as a result of the motor's inertia. Wait until the motor stops fully before starting work. A • When turning the machine pulley by hand in order to adjust the brake, turn the pulley until the needle is at the final position after one cycle. If the needle is at a point midway through the cycle when the power is turned on, the machine will immediately start operating, which could result in injury. 1. While pushing the clutch body 0 down, turn the machine pulley two or more complete turns in the direction of the arrow. 2. Release the clutch body 0 . 3. Loosen the set screw @ at the lower part of the clutch body 0 . 4. Turn the brake lever shaft @ until the brake shoe O is at its lowest position. 5. Tighten the set screw @ to secure the brake lever shaft @ . * If the brake is grabbing at low temperatures and low operating speeds and causing the machine to stop before the correct stopping position, it might be caused by one of the following problems. In such cases, raise the position of the brake shoe 0 in step 4. above. Work clamp lift amount is too small P. 27 (Additional description) Thread is not being trimmed 2-2. Simple two-pedal installation (B916A only) When using the B916A, you can use the following method instead of using a mechanical two-pedal. However, because the mechanism causes the pedal pressure for the presser lifter to become heavier, it is recommended that you use a mechanical two-pedal with the same pressure as the start pedal. (When using the B917A, be sure to use only the mechanical two-pedal.) 1. Install the pedal 0 . Pedal stoppers 2. When using the second pedal 0 for lifting the button clamp, move the screw @ to the hole © and tighten it. 3. Hook the chain 0 of the pedal 0 to the connector 4. After this, carry out steps (8) to (12) on page 27 of the CB3-6916/CB3-B917 instruction manual. -6- Model No. CB3-B916A, B917A (English)

become
heavier,
it
is
recommended
that
you
use
a
mechanical
two
-pedal
with
the
same
pressure
as
the
start
pedal.
(When
using
the
B917A,
be
sure
to
use
only
the
mechanical
two
-pedal.)
1.
Install
