BeforeYou Start Recharging the Battery Do not recharge any battery pack other than Battery Pack BP-511 or BP-512. •• The battery continues to discharge a low electrical current even while the camera is not used. This may lead to excessive battery discharge and a shorter battery service life. 1 When not using the camera, remove the battery and attach the protective cover to prevent shorting. Before using the camera again, be sure to recharge the battery. • The time required to recharge the battery depends on the ambient temperature and battery's power level. • If operating time is sharply reduced even after charging normally, the battery pack may have exceeded its useful life. Replace it with a new battery pack. • The battery pack can operate in temperatures from 0°C to 40°C (32°F to 104°F), however for full operating performance, use between 10°C (50°F) and 30°C (86°F) is recommended. In cold locations such as ski areas, battery performance is temporarily decreased and operating time may be reduced. 23
