Connecting Power Chapter 3 Installing a Cisco 7200 VXR Router Connecting AC-Input Power Connect a 280W AC-input power supply as follows: Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 At the rear of the router, check that the power switch is in the off (O) position. Slide the cable-retention clip up, away from the AC port, and plug in the power cable. Secure the cable in the power supply AC port by sliding the cable-retention clip down until it fits around the connector. The cable-retention clip provides strain relief for the AC power cable. (See Figure 3-31.) Note For additional AC power cable strain relief, secure the cable to the power supply handle by inserting a nylon cable tie through the hole in the handle and around the cable. Step 4 Plug the AC power supply cable into the AC power source. Step 5 Repeat Step 1 through Step 4 for the second power supply (if present). This completes the procedure for connecting AC-input power. Installing a Cisco 7200 VXR Router
Connecting Power
Connecting AC-Input Power
Connect a 280W AC-input power supply as follows:
Step 1
At the rear of the router, check that the power switch is in the off (O) position.
Step 2
Slide the cable-retention clip up, away from the AC port, and plug in the power cable.
Step 3
Secure the cable in the power supply AC port by sliding the cable-retention clip down until it fits around
the connector. The cable-retention clip provides strain relief for the AC power cable. (See
Figure 3-31
.)
Note
For additional AC power cable strain relief, secure the cable to the power supply handle by
inserting a nylon cable tie through the hole in the handle and around the cable.
Step 4
Plug the AC power supply cable into the AC power source.
Step 5
Repeat Step 1 through Step 4 for the second power supply (if present).
This completes the procedure for connecting AC-input power.

Connecting DC-Input Power
Two 280W DC-input power supplies are available for the Cisco 7200 VXR routers, a –24V and a –48V
power supply. To determine which power supply is in your router, look at the power supply ratings label.
The 24V label located on the power supply next to the cable connector reads 24 - 60V. The 48V label
located on the power supply next to the cable connector reads 48 - 60V. For more information on these
power supplies see the
