Removal and replacement procedures Speaker Description Speaker Spare part number 538453-001 Before removing the speaker, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see "Battery" on page 4-6). 5. Remove the keyboard and switch cover (see "Keyboard and switch cover" on page 4-20). Remove the speaker: 1. Disconnect the speaker cable 1 from the system board. 2. Release the speaker cable from the clips 2 built into the top cover. 3. Remove the two Phillips PM2.5×4.0 screws 3 that secure the speaker to the top cover. 4. Remove the speaker 4. Reverse this procedure to install the speaker. 4-24 Maintenance and Service Guide

Removal and replacement procedures
Speaker
Before removing the speaker, follow these steps:
1.
Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on,
and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then
unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4. Remove the battery (see
“Battery” on page 4-6
).
5. Remove the keyboard and switch cover (see
“Keyboard and switch cover” on page 4-20
).
Remove the speaker:
1. Disconnect the speaker cable

from the system board.
2. Release the speaker cable from the clips
2
built into the top cover.
3. Remove the two Phillips PM2.5×4.0 screws
3
that secure the speaker to the top cover.
4. Remove the speaker

Reverse this procedure to install the speaker.
