6. Pull the bottom of the jack assembly upward (1) to disengage the tabs on the top of the jack assembly from the slots in the chassis (2), and then remove the jack from the holder in the chassis. Figure 6-49 Removing the RJ-11 Jack To reinstall the modem, reverse the removal procedure. When replacing the modem, make sure the connector on the bottom of the modem plugs firmly into its connector on the system board. When replacing the jack assembly, first insert the tabs on the top of the jack assembly into the slots in the holder on the chassis. Then press downward on the assembly until it snaps into place. Optical Drive Sensor 1. Prepare the computer for disassembly (Preparation for Disassembly on page 34). 2. Remove the computer cover (Computer Cover on page 38). CAUTION: To reduce risk of damage to optical door sensor, make sure you closely follow the computer cover removal instructions. 3. Position the computer with the front facing toward you. 4. Remove the screw that secures the sensor to the front of the chassis. Figure 6-50 Removing the cover sensor 5. Raise the drive cage to its upright position. 6. Unplug the cable from the system board. 7. Pull the sensor away from the chassis while threading the wires through the hole in the front of the chassis. Optical Drive Sensor 69
