Getting Started Shutting down the computer 49 Power down tips There are a few additional things to keep in mind when you turn off the power. Never turn off the power while a disk drive or other device is working. Doing so may damage the device or corrupt your data. Before powering down the computer, check that all drive-in-use lights are out. For additional information about powering down your computer so that you can start up again where you left off, see "Powering down the computer" on page 107.
