E Beam setting (fig. 71) When checking the beam setting, put the motorcycle upright. Tyres should be inflated at the correct pressure and one person should be sitting astride the motorcycle, keeping it at right angles to its longitudinal axis. Place the motorcycle opposite a wall or a screen, 10 meters away from it. Draw a horizontal line dictated by headlamp centre and a vertical one in line with the longitudinal axis of motorcycle. If possible, perform this check in dim light. Switch on the low beam. The height of the light spot (measured at the upper limit between dark and lighted-up area) should not exceed 9/10th of the height from ground of headlamp centre. Notes This is the procedure specified by Italian standards to check the maximum height of the light beam. This procedure should be adapted to suit the regulations in force in the country where the motorcycle is used. Headlight vertical adjustment (fig. 72) Use buttons (A) and (B) on the instrument panel to make this adjustment, entering the "Vertical beam adjustment" function (see page 21). 9 x 10 10 m x fig. 71 A B km/h miles mph km/L mpgal fig. 72 78
