Gearshift Lever (Automatic transmission only) The gearshift lever on your Explorer is mounted on the steering column. On the end of the gearshift lever is the Overdrive On/Off button. For additional information about the gearshift lever and the Overdrive On/Off button, see the Driving Your Explorer chapter. OVERDRIVE OFF Lamp This lamp indicates the operating range of the transmission. This lamp illuminates when the O/D ON/OFF button is depressed.
