UTILITY STITCHES Basic Stitching Straight stitch Pattern Presser Foot Twin Needle Straight stitches are used for sewing plain seams. Three stitches are available for basic stitching. The values below "Auto" are set when the pattern is selected. The setting can be adjusted to any value within the range indicated below "Manual". CAUTION ● Before replacing the presser foot, be sure to turn off the sewing machine, otherwise injuries may occur if a button is accidentally pressed and the machine starts sewing. Baste or pin together the fabric pieces. a Turn on the machine. b With the pattern selection dial, c select , or . If reverse stitches are to be sewn, lower the e needle into the fabric 3 to 5 stitch lengths in front of the point where the stitching will begin, and then sew the reverse stitches. • For details, refer to "Securing the stitching" (page 44). Start sewing. f • For details, refer to "Starting to sew" (page 42). If reverse stitches are to be sewn at the end of g stitching, sew 3 to 5 reverse stitches. • For details, refer to "Securing the stitching" (page 44). When sewing is finished, cut the thread. h ■ Changing the needle position The needle position can be adjusted with the straight stitch (left needle position) and the triple stretch stitch by adjusting the stitch width.
