2-24 Compaq ProLiant DL580 Server Maintenance and Service Guide Hot-Plug Power Supply CAUTION: If one of the power supplies is removed, immediately replace it with another power supply, or immediately insert a power supply blank cover to allow proper airflow. Do not operate for more than a few minutes without taking these precautions. NOTE: It is not necessary to place the system in standby mode for a hot-plug power supply replacement in a power supply configuration. To remove a hot-plug power supply: 1. Unplug the AC power cord from the hot-plug power supply. 2. Grasp the power supply handle , then slide up the release lever. 3. Pull the power supply from the server. IMPORTANT: A power supply blank cover is removed exactly the same way. Ensure that the release lever is in the up position when the power supply blank cover is replaced, then lower the release lever when the blank cover is fully inserted. 1 2 Figure 2-17. Hot-Plug Power Supply
CAUTION:
If one of the power supplies is removed, immediately replace it with another power
supply, or immediately insert a power supply blank cover to allow proper airflow. Do not
operate for more than a few minutes without taking these precautions.
NOTE:
It is not necessary to place the system in standby mode for a hot-plug power supply replacement
in a power supply configuration.
To remove a hot-plug power supply:
1. Unplug the AC power cord from the hot-plug power supply.
2. Grasp the power supply handle
, then slide up the release lever.
3. Pull the power supply
from the server.
IMPORTANT:
A power supply blank cover is removed exactly the same way. Ensure that the release
lever is in the up position when the power supply blank cover is replaced, then lower the release lever
when the blank cover is fully inserted.
