DES-3350SR Layer 3 Fast Ethernet Switch User's Guide config dvmrp Purpose Used to configure DVMRP on the switch. Syntax Description Parameters config dvmrp [ipif |all] {metric |probe |neighbor_timeout |state [enabled|disabled] This command is used to configure DVMRP on the switch. − The name of the IP interface for which DVMRP is to be configured. all − Specifies that DVMRP is to be configured for all IP interfaces on the switch. metric − Allows the assignment of a DVMRP route cost to the above IP interface. A DVMRP route cost is a relative number that represents the real cost of using this route in the construction of a multicast delivery tree. It is similar to, but not defined as, the hope count in RIP. The default is 1. probe − This setting is the Probe Interval. The switch will send probe packets every Probe Interval. The DVMRP Router uses probe packets to discover DVMRP neighbor routers. neighbor_timeout − The time period for which DVMRP will hold Neighbor Router reports before issuing poison route messages. The default value is 35 seconds. 295
