When you select the HARD DISK UTILITY from the main Setup menu, you see this screen: The three options listed on the bottom half of the screen are hard disk diagnostic tests. These tests are destructive in that they destroy data on the hard disk. Therefore, if possible, be sure to backup any data on your hard disk before performing these tests. Hard Disk Format The hard disk in your computer has already been formatted for you. You need to reformat this hard disk only if you have a serious problem with the drive. However, before formatting a disk with data on it, try every other recovery procedure described in your operating system manuals. Then, if possible, back up all the data on the disk before you begin. You must still partition and format the hard disk for the operating system after performing this low-level format. See your operating system manuals for instructions. 5-14 Running Setup
