Requirements and Notices This chapter includes system requirements, safety instructions, legal notices, and other important information about your EPSON Stylus C80N. For information about NetWare, UNIX, and OS/2, see the Administrator's Manual. Windows System Requirements To use your printer and its software, your system should have: s A Microsoft Windows compatible PC with a Pentium® or better processor (200 MHz or faster recommended) s Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows NT 4.x, Windows 2000, or Windows XP s 32MB of RAM (64MB recommended) s 100MB of free hard disk space (200MB or more recommended) s VGA or better display adapter and monitor s CD-ROM or DVD drive for installing the printer software s Parallel connection: a high-speed, bidirectional IEEE-1284 compliant parallel cable, up to 10 feet long (3 meters); the cable must have a D-SUB, 25-pin, male connector for your computer, and a 36-pin, Centronics® compatible connector for the printer. USB connection: a computer running Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows 2000, or Windows XP with a Windows-compliant USB port and a shielded USB "AB" cable. s Ethernet network connection: a Category 5 unshielded twisted-pair cable with RJ45 connectors to connect the print server's Ethernet port to your network. If you'll be connecting your computer directly to the printer, you must use a crossover cable. Using an improperly shielded USB cable may cause the printer to malfunction. 43

Windows System Requirements
To use your printer and its software, your system should have:
A Microsoft Windows compatible PC with a Pentium

or better processor (200 MHz or faster
recommended)
Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows NT 4.x, Windows 2000, or Windows XP
32MB of RAM (64MB recommended)
100MB of free hard disk space (200MB or more recommended)
VGA or better display adapter and monitor
CD-ROM or DVD drive for installing the printer software
