4. Close the document cover gently so that the document does not move. Note: 0 Make sure that the document is flat against the glass surface so that the image is properly focused. Also make sure to close the document cover. This prevents interference from external light. 0 Always keep the document table clean. See "Maintenance" later in this chapter for information on cleaning the scanner. 0 Avoid twisting the document cover when you open or close it. 0 Do not leave photographs on the document table for an extended period of time; they may stick to the glass. 0 Do not place heavy objects on top of the scanner. 5.
